Last week I saw The Bodyguard, which is on tour around the UK. I have seen the film and I saw the West End production when it started in London however there is something about seeing a musical live in your home theatre (Glasgow Kings) which makes it even more special.
I saw Zoe Birkett in the lead role (alternate Rachel Marron, who shares the role with Alexandra Burke) and my goodness, what a talent!! She literally blew my mind, from every line to every note, the girl has it. If I had to describe her performance in one word it would be SASSY! That girls can sing, dance, act.. the lot!

The entire cast were phenomenal, Melissa James who played Nikki Marron is definitely one to look out for in the future and Stuart Reid is everything you could ask for as Frank Farmer. The whole company are exceptionally talented, with one of the strongest ensemble casts I have seen in a long time, they were LIVING for this show!
The production was flawless, from the choreography, special effects to the amazing lighting and staging, which I did notice had been changed/altered slightly from the West End production. The audience whooped, cheered, danced and jumped to their feet for a standing ovation...all before the show was even finished! The finale number had every single person, including the begrudging husband who had been dragged along by his wife, on their feet and belting out Whitney's greatest hits. I have to say, there ain't no audience like a Glaswegian audience!
The production is on tour throughout the UK for another few months so if you get the chance, GO!! You won't regret it. The only side effect of this show is having Whitney songs stuck in your head for days, weeks, even months.. it's that good!
I plan on getting tickets for the Edinburgh Playhouse in October so I can relive it all again. I have nothing, nothing, NOTHING if I don't have.... tickets to see this show one more time!
